अंतर्राष्ट्रीय पुरुष दिवस का आरम्भ

वर्ष 1999 में वेस्टइंडीज़ के प्रोफेसर डॉ. जेरोम टीलकसिंह ने अपने पिता के जन्मदिवस पर यह दिवस मनाना शुरू किया। उनका मानना था कि पुरुषों के मुद्दों—स्वास्थ , परिवार और समाज में योगदान इस पर विशेष ध्यान दिया जाना चाहिए। इसी कारण, भारत में यह दिवस वर्ष 2007 से मनाया जा रहा है।

आपको पता है, प्रत्येक वर्ष इस दिवस की एक विशेष थीम या संकल्पना होती है, जैसे कि जागरण.कॉम की एक रिपोर्ट के अनुसार 2024 की थीम थी पुरुष स्वास्थ्य चैंपियन (मेन्स हेल्थ चैंपियन)। अर्थात, पुरुष अपने स्वास्थ्य को अनदेखा न करें। प्रतिदिवस अपने मानसिक और शारीरिक सुदृढ़ीकरण को महत्व दें।

वैसे इस वर्ष की संकल्पना को लेकर क्या अनुमान है आपका? अवश्य बताएं।

परंतु, एक बात तो सत्य है कि पुरुष प्रतिदिवस कर्तव्यों के बंधन में बंधा होता है। सुबह के अलार्म पे शीघ्र उठने से लेकर शाम को थक कर घर आने तक पुरुष सब करता है। बच्चों के अभ्यास से लेकर बिजली के बिलों तक, और रसोई घर का सिलेंडर उठाने तक, सभी कार्यों में पुरुषों का सहभाग होता है।

इसी कारण, उनकी निरंतर मेहनत, कंधे पर लटकते कर्तव्य और साथ ही परिवार के प्रति प्रामाणिकता को सम्मान देते हुए यह एक दिवस तो उनके लिए अवश्य होना‌ चाहिए।

तो यह है अंतर्राष्ट्रीय पुरुष दिवस मनाने के मुख्य उद्देश्य:

समानता:

परिवार और समाज में पुरुषों की कर्तव्यदक्ष भूमिका को सराहना मिले।

कुछ तथ्य

aajtak.in की एक रिपोर्ट में एक महत्वपूर्ण बात बताई गई थी जिसने सबका ध्यान खींच लिया, जैसे कि— एजेंसी नेशनल क्राइम रिकॉर्ड ब्यूरो (NCRB) अर्थात, राष्ट्रीय अपराध रिकॉर्ड ब्यूरो के आंकड़ों के अनुसार, वर्ष 2018 से लेकर 2022 तक आत्महत्या करने वालों में महिलाओं की तुलना में पुरुषों की संख्या कई अधिक थी।

वैसे 2001 से 2022 के बीच प्रत्येक वर्ष आत्महत्या करने वाली महिलाओं की संख्या 40 से 48 हजार के बीच रही। जबकि, इसी बीच‌ आत्महत्या करने वाले पुरुषों की संख्या 66 हजार से बढ़कर 1 लाख के पार चली गई।

वैसे aajtak.in की वर्ष 2024 की एक रिपोर्ट तो यह बताती है की, आत्महत्या करने वालों में 70% से अधिक पुरुष ही पाए गए हैं।

मात्र भारत ही नहीं, बल्कि विश्व के आंकड़े बताते हैं कि, पुरुष अधिक आत्महत्या करते हैं। और World Health Organization के अनुसार तो, विश्व में प्रत्येक एक लाख मर्दों में से 12.6 आत्महत्या करते है। वहीं, प्रत्येक एक लाख महिलाओं में ये दर 5.4 है।

इसके प्रमुख कारण:

इस सबके पीछे नशा, तनाव, घर की समस्याएं, वैवाहिक समस्याएं, आर्थिक समस्याएं, बीमारी जैसे कि एड्स, कैंसर आदि, ऐसे कई कारण बताए गए है‌।

तो इन तथ्यों से यह स्पष्ट है कि पुरुषों को भी उतनी ही देखभाल और समर्थन की आवश्यकता है जितनी किसी और को।
