नमस्कार प्रकृति मित्रों!
“बरसते मेघ की ध्वनि, इन्द्र का प्रकोप, और भयभीत हुए ब्रजवासी…
तभी प्यारे से नन्हे कान्हा ने अपनी छोटी सी उंगली पर उठा लिया विशाल गोवर्धन पर्वत”।
यही तो है गोवर्धन पूजा का चमत्कार, और यही है इस का अनन्त सार।
तो, हिंदी संस्कृति का एक शुभ उत्सव माना जाने वाला गोवर्धन पूजा का उत्सव दीपावली के बाद आने वाला आगामी दिवस होता है, जो इस वर्ष 22 अक्टूबर को मनाया जा रहा है।
तो आईए, आज जान लेते हैं गोवर्धन पूजा से संबंधित एक महान कथा, भगवान श्रीकृष्ण की महालीला की गाथा, और ‘आज के गोवर्धन’ के बारे में।
गोवर्धन पूजा की पौराणिक कथा
पौराणिक कथा के अनुसार, एक बार ब्रजवासियीओं ने भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के कहने पर इंद्र देवता की पूजा को छोड़ गोवर्धन पर्वत की पूजा आऱंभ करी। इस बात से इंद्र देवता को क्रोध आया और इसी कारणवश उन्होंने मूसलधार वर्षा से ब्रजवासियों पर प्रकोप बरसाना आरंभ किया। उसी समय, ब्रजवासियों की रक्षा के लिए भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने अपनी छोटी उंगली पर गोवर्धन पर्वत जैसा विशाल पर्वत उठाया, जिसके नीचे सभी लोग शरण में आ गए। सात दिवस तक, गोवर्धन पर्वत के नीचे रहकर उन्होंने इंद्र के प्रकोप से स्वयं और अन्य ब्रजवासियों की रक्षा करी। इसके बाद, श्रीकृष्ण नेगोवर्धन पर्वत को पूजनीय बताया और उसी समय से ब्रजवासियों ने गोवर्धन पर्वत की पूजा का प्रारम्भ किया। इस पूजा का उद्देश्य प्रकृति और धरती माता के प्रति सम्मान को प्रदर्शित करना भी है।
इस दिवस पर, विभिन्न स्थानों पर गोबर से गोवर्धन पर्वत बनाया जाता है। कार्तिक शुक्ल पक्ष की प्रतिपदा को भगवान के निमित्त भोग व नैवेद्य में नित्य के नियमित पदार्थों के अतिरिक्त यथासामर्थ्य अन्न से बने कच्चे-पक्के भोग, फल, फूल; अनेक प्रकार के पदार्थ जिन्हें छप्पन भोग कहते हैं।
वैसे आज की तिथि में, गौ माता का संरक्षण यह हम सभी का कर्तव्य है, क्योंकि वो माता कहलाई जाती है, जिसके दूध का हमारे जीवन में अनोखा महत्व है। अब, प्रतिदिन हम गौ माता का सम्मान करते ही हैं परंतु, कुछ स्थानों पर गोवर्धन पूजा के दिवस पर गौ माता का भी पूजन किया जाता है। पाँव धोकर, कुमकुम लगाकर, पुष्पहार पहना कर गौ माता का आशीर्वाद लिया जाता है।
गोवर्धन पूजा का आधुनिक संदेश
यह मात्र एक पौराणिक कथा नहीं है, यह आज के समय के लिए एक प्रेरणा भी है।
यह हमें सिखाती है कि, प्रकृति की रक्षा करनी है, गौ माता का सम्मान करना है, और समर्पण और विश्वास से संकटों का समाधान पाना है। आज भी हमारे जीवन में यह पर्व हमें स्मरण दिलाता है कि, धरती और पर्यावरण ही वास्तविक देवता हैं।

Now, while we honor Gau Mata every day, in some places, on the day of Govardhan Puja, she is also worshipped. Her feet are washed, she is adorned with vermilion and garlands, and blessings are sought from her.

This festival teaches us to protect nature, respect animals, and face challenges with faith and devotion. The earth and environment are the true deities.
