नमस्कार प्रकृति मित्रों!
“न गुरोरधिकं तत्त्वं न गुरोरधिकं तपः।
तत्त्वज्ञानात् परं नास्ति तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः॥”
अर्थात—गुरु से बड़ा कोई तत्त्व नहीं और ज्ञान से बड़ा कोई तप नहीं। ऐसे गुरु को नमस्कार है!
तो आज के दिवस, इस श्लोक से आरंभ करने का एक विशेष कारण है, क्योंकि आज है 5 नवंबर 2025 – गुरु नानक जयंती!
यह दिवस सिख धर्म के प्रथम गुरु, गुरु नानक देवजी के जन्मोत्सव के रूप में मनाया जाता है। और यह मात्र एक पर्व नहीं… मानवता, समानता और सत्यता का उत्सव है।
गुरु नानक देव जी का जीवन और रोचक कथाएँ
नानक जी का जन्म 15 अप्रैल 1469 को पंजाब के तलवंडी में हुआ था, जो कि अब पाकिस्तान में हैं।
नानक अंधविश्वास और दिखावे के कट्टर विरोधी थे। वो लोगों के अंतर्मन में परिवर्तन लाना चाहते थे। वो आजीवन लोगों यह समझाते रहे कि लोभ, लालच बुरी बातें हैं, इसके बदले प्रेम, एकता, विश्वास, समानता, ईमानदारी, मेहनत और भाई-चारा महत्वपूर्ण है।
नानक जब थोडे बड़े हुए, तो उन्हें पढने के लिए पाठशाला भेजा गया। वो बचपन से ही ज्ञानी, जिज्ञासु और तेज थे। वे कभी-कभी अपने शिक्षको से विचित्र प्रश्न पूछ लेते थे, जिनका उत्तर उनके शिक्षकों के पास नहीं होता था। जैसे, एक दिवस शिक्षक ने नानक से पाटी पर ‘अ’ अक्षर लिखवाया, तब नानक ने ‘अ’ तो लिख दिया, किन्तु शिक्षक से पूछा, “गुरुजी! ‘अ’ का क्या अर्थ होता है?”, और यह सुनकर गुरुजी अनुत्तरित हो गए।
एक दिवस तो गुरु नानक जी के पिता ने उन्हें बाज़ार में सब्जियाँ बेचने के लिए कहा। सब्जियाँ बेचते समय, जैसे ही नानक जी गिनती शुरू करते थे, वह “तेरा” आंकड़े पर अटक जाते थे, जिसका अर्थ “तुम्हारा” भी होता है। तेरा शब्द सुनकर, वह विचारों में डूब जाते थे। इसी कारण, कार्य करते समय उनका मन कार्य के साथ-साथ परमात्मा में भी लगता था। गुरु नानक देव जी हमेशा कहते थे- “मैं तुम्हारा हूँ, मैं तुम्हारा हूँ, मैं तुम्हारा हूँ।” और यही विचार उनके पूरे जीवन का सार बन गया।
इन कथाओं से यह स्पष्ट है कि, गुरु नानक देव जी एक धार्मिक गुरु के साथ-साथ मानवता के सच्चे मार्गदर्शक भी थे।

“Na guroradhikam tattvam na guroradhikam tapah, tattvajnanat param naasti tasmai shri-gurave namah.”
Meaning: “There is no principle greater than the Guru, and no penance greater than knowledge.”
Today, 5th November 2025, we begin with this shloka as it is Guru Nanak Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji—a celebration not only of faith but of humanity, equality, and truth.
Life and Teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji
Guru Nanak Sahib was born on 15th April 1469 in Talwandi, Punjab, which is now in Pakistan.
Nanak was a staunch opponent of superstition and show-off rituals.
He wanted to bring transformation within people’s inner selves.
Throughout his life, he kept teaching people that greed and selfishness are harmful, whereas love, unity, faith, equality, honesty, hard work, and brotherhood are essential.
When Nanak grew a little older, he was sent to school to study.
Since childhood, he was wise, curious, and intelligent. Sometimes, he would ask strange questions to his teachers, for which they had no answers.
For example, one day the teacher asked Nanak to write the letter ‘A’ on his slate. Nanak wrote it but then asked, “Guruji, what does ‘A’ mean?” Hearing this, the teacher was left speechless.
One day, Guru Nanak Ji’s father asked him to sell vegetables in the market.
While selling vegetables, whenever Nanak started counting, he would stop at the number “13” (in Punjabi ‘Tera’), which also means “Yours.”
Hearing the word “Tera,” he would sink into deep thoughts.
That is why, while working, his mind remained both in the task and in remembrance of God.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji always said, “I am Yours, I am Yours, I am Yours,” and this thought became the essence of his entire life.
From these stories, it is clear that Guru Nanak Dev Ji was not only a spiritual teacher but also a true guide for humanity.
